Fr Jim Doherty RIP

Of your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Father James Doherty, RIP who has died in the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

Fr Jim (or “big Jim” as he was affectionately known) was ordained in 1979 and served in Saint Peter’s, Partick; Saint Laurence’s Drumchapel; Our Lady and St Mark’s, Alexandria; St Robert Bellarmine, Pollok and Saint Vincent de Paul in Thornliebank.

He was appointed Parish Priest in Saint Vincent de Paul’s before taking ill with leukaemia. He eventually returned to ministry as Parish Priest in Saint Joachim’s, Carmyle.


In his retirement, Jim was a friend to many and a trusted counsellor.

Funeral arrangements for Fr Jim Doherty RIP:

The Reception of Remains and Vigil will take place at Saint Aloysius’, Garnethill on Friday 21st January 2022 at 7.00 pm.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Aloysius’ on Saturday 22nd January 2022 at 11.30 with burial thereafter to Dalbeth Cemetery.

Requiescat in pace.
