| In his Apostolic Letter, Novo
Millennio Ineunte, at the close of the Jubilee
Year, Pope John Paul II set the parameters
for the work of the pastoral office when he
wrote:
It is in the local churches that the specific
features of a detailed pastoral plan can
be identified — goals and methods,
formation and enrichment of the people involved,
the search for the necessary resources —
which will enable the proclamation of Christ
to reach people, mould communities, and
have a deep and incisive influence in bringing
Gospel values to bear in society and culture.
(No. 29)
To this end, the Pastoral Office develops
resources for Parish Pastoral Councils and
supports them in making this vision a reality
at local level. We also offer practical
support to the various Commissions operating
in the Diocese helping to integrate their
vision with that of the Church.
