IN SERVICE OF CHRIST'S MISSION

To mark the 500th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Glasgow in 1992, the Pastoral Care Trust was established.

It was founded to uphold in a modern context the centuries-old traditions of Christian life and action here in Scotland.

In particular, its aim was to offer small grants to groups, agencies and projects working for the common good of all people in need.

Now under the patronage of St Nicholas, the Trust has adopted the name St Nicholas Care Fund.

The Fund encourages applications from community groups, voluntary organizations, charities and other bodies tackling social need.

Areas covered are the City of Glasgow; the districts of East and West Dunbartonshire; North and South Lanarkshire; Renfrewshire; East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde; and that part of Argyll and Bute District around Helensburgh and the Gareloch.

New Initiative for Schools

A new initiative has been introduced for schools.  The aim of the initiative is to encourage young people to grow in the Gospel value of care for their neighbour, and to become more involved in their local community. Grants of up to £1,000 will be made available for secondary schools wishing to meet a need in their communities. Applications for grants can be made by secondary schools themselves or schools working in partnership with their local community or parish. Proposals must be returned by the closing date of Monday 7th November 2011. Successful applicants will be awarded grants in early December.
